Oh but also - the NYT snippets are so good. As someone that is a playlist girly, it's so fun to look back at playlists from YEARS ago and get transported back to that time. <3
It’s satisfying to see the NYT article about crafting a playlist to evoke memories from a certain time! I’m a huge advocate for this— I’ve always created playlists as a memory capsule versus a mood, and this year marks a decade creating them in this way.
(And now I can pull up my freshman year playlist to all the musical theater, Ariana Grande, & Walk the Moon songs that defined that first year of high school for me a decade ago. Wild!)
"you curate songs of a time in your life, so you can listen back and elicit the memories in a visceral way." Such an insightful take on music and how we connect to it. I wonder if that visceral connection is part of why so many of us listen to music while we write. We connect to the mood or the moment of it somehow and it makes the writing more raw, just like with those memories. It's a really interesting evolution of something I wrote earlier this week about how music connects to the soul. about a playlist to remember, I've started doing yearly files on my spotify to remember specific moments in time, how i felt, and what i was listening to at a specific moment in time. It's a sort of musical time capsule and it's a great way of keeping track of your musical history and growth
Sounds like a brilliant idea. These playlists will help remove pressure from result oriented minds and encourage us to enjoy the journey. I like the idea. Thanks ❤.
Yeah, music is such a direct conduit to memory. Very cool idea.
You gotta try Ghia too (NA brand!)
Gromit is the best omg
